2020 Summer Camps

Your CIVIC’s COVID-19 Response

**These rules will be revised as needed, responding to current health conditions.**

What we will do to keep our students safe…
● The theatre and classroom spaces are sanitized nightly and between all uses.
● Camp sizes are limited to a max of 9 campers.
● All Campers & Staff will have their temperature taken prior to entry, it must be under 99.5 degrees.
● Campers who are turned away due to a temperature will be refunded for the remainder of their camp session.
● All restrooms will be sanitized prior to camps, following bathroom breaks, and at the end of camps.
● Civic will have bottled water for campers in need
● Hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the building and inside the classroom spaces.
● Camp start and end times are staggered to ensure we can minimize overlaps during our check in/out process.
● All camps will take place in: Foegley Plaza, Warner Studio Theatre, or the Wilson Auditorium to provide ample space.
● Campers & staff will wear face masks. If students don’t have one, the Civic will provide one.
● All End of Camp show-formances will be broadcast via zoom and will not include a live audience.

We continue our best efforts to ensure The CIVIC and our campers are protected during this time of global health emergency. The health and wellbeing of our SBCT family, including you, is at the center of our efforts at this time.

Scholarships Available!

South Bend Civic Theatre’s mission and core value is that every human, no matter financial situation or status, should be able to experience and grow through arts education. Through the generosity from patrons, local organizations, and grants we are pleased to offer scholarships to interested students who need financial assistance with class tuition.

July 6-10

Creative Drama: Circus Fun! 

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls…welcome to the most thrilling circus in South Bend–Cirque de Civic! From the boldest ringmasters to the bravest acrobats, we will work together to create our own circus performance. Grab your clown shoes and juggling balls and meet us at the Big Top!

Exploratory Acting: Wizarding Academy

Welcome to the magical world of wizards, witches, and magical creatures! Develop your own magical character, design your companion creature, and experience day-to-day studies to become a full-fledged wizard!

Theatre Skills: Triple Threat Boot Camp

Any actor who wants to get serious about musical theatre knows that you want to be a “triple threat”: strong in singing, acting, and dancing. This boot camp will tackle all three areas in a variety of styles, genres, and techniques. By the end of camp, students will learn how to be a confident auditioner in all three areas.

Theatre Skills: Stand-Up Comedy

Ever wanted to try your hand at doing stand-up comedy? Whether you think you’re funny or can’t land a joke to save your life, this camp is for you! Learn how to develop your own 3-5 minute set to be performed at the end of the week. Not only will you have lots of laughs, you will build confidence and learn a brand new skill!

Theatre Skills: Character Improv

Learn how to build exciting stories, create fascinating characters and present them in the most awe-inspiring way. This camp is all about jumping in, having fun, playing hard, working together and finding your voice. Always fun, this camp will focus on developing improv skills and creating performers in a safe and creative environment.

Creative Drama: Under the Sea!

Dive into the world of under-the-sea tales through this explorative look at the world beneath the water. Join mermaids, seagulls, fish, squid, and all your favorite friends in this engaging storytelling-based creative drama camp!

Exploratory Acting: Living Comic Book

Boom! Pow! Crash! It’s time to bring our own, one-of-a-kind comic book to life! From crafting the perfect backdrop for each part of the story to voicing sound effects to creating thought bubbles, it’s going to take a whole team of actors and designers to pull this off. Join the team!

Summer Stage Production Roald Dahl Stories

This camp will focus on scenes and songs from well-known Roald Dahl shows, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, and more! Join us for an intense performance-based week as you construct a performance from these zany, memorable stories.

Theatre Skills: Acting Workshop

Whether you’ve never acted before or you’ve been in many plays, this acting-focused camp will help performers old and new learn how to develop characters in exciting new ways. Learn how to be a brilliant onstage collaborator and embody a role confidently!
